Park Saved?

An article in Cambridge Evening News a couple of days ago seems to have mislead people into thinking that the Park is saved.

Sadly it's not. Far from it.

All that happened was that SCDC's cabinet agreed that if, and that a big IF, someone could be found to take on the Park then SCDC would lease the Park to them. It's a legal thing and it's something that Milton Parish Council, who are backing our campaign, advised SCDC to do a long time ago when they were first thinking about outsourcing the maintenance of the Park.

As you may have also read there are some organizations looking at taking on management of the Park. SCDC say it's seven. It's not. We know from our own discussions with them that some of them they are only able to offer advice, they're not interested in taking on the Park. We know from our research that even those who genuinely are interested will still be faced with a serious problem over long term funding. It is clear that a sustainable future for the park will not be easy to achieve.

A workshop is being held at the end of the month where people from organizations who might (and again we should stress that's MIGHT) be interested in taking on the Park are meeting to discuss options. We will be there. We'll keep you posted.
