Milton Country Park's Visitor Centre hosted its first ever wedding today, when Emma Selwyn-Smith and Michael Harbour celebrated their marriage in their own unique style.

For Emma and Michael, Milton Country Park was the ideal venue for their big day. "Lots of reasons came together to make the park the perfect choice," explained Michael, a resident of Milton. "There's the play area where the kids can let off some steam; and my gran, who uses a wheelchair, appreciates the excellent disabled facilities. Most importantly, we love the Park, we've visited it countless times, and it's where we wanted to entertain our guests. I can't think of a more beautiful setting in Cambridge than the view across the lake."
Emma said "We're very grateful to everyone who's helped us organise this wonderful day, particularly Malcolm and Keely, the Rangers at the Park. They've been so helpful and accommodating."
In his groom's speech, Michael explained why Milton Country Park is a special place for him and his bride. "Although the park is so close to busy roads and the city, once you're inside you're in a different world. You can relax and unwind and just enjoy each other's company." Michael also mentioned the anger he and Emma felt at the threatened closure of the park. "We think those in the District Council, as our representatives, are now duty bound to find the solution - that's their job and closure is not an option."
